This means you can encounter it almost anywhere in the deep zones, and its unpredictable movement makes it the single greatest threat to deep explorers.

What makes the Collector so terrifying is its behavior. It does not wait for you to blunder into its territory -- it comes to you. Its patrol routes cover large areas, and it is drawn to vehicle noise and activity. If it detects you, it pursues aggressively, and its attack can destroy smaller vehicles in a single grab. The sound of its roar echoing through the water is enough to make even veteran players freeze.

How to Avoid the Collector Leviathan

Since you cannot kill the Collector, avoidance is your primary strategy. The best encounter is the one that never happens. Here are the most effective avoidance techniques:

• Listen for its roar: This is your earliest and most reliable warning. Turn up your volume and use headphones. The Collector's roar is distinct from other leviathans.
• Travel quietly: Reduce vehicle speed when crossing open deep water. Lower engine noise means less chance of attracting attention.
• Stay near terrain: Open water is the Collector's hunting ground. Travel along the seafloor or near rock formations where you have cover and escape routes.
• Use sonar sparingly: Sonar helps you see but the pulse may attract attention. Use it in short bursts, not constantly.
• Time your deep dives: Cross deep open zones quickly and with purpose. Do not linger in the Collector's patrol depth band.
• Travel in a group: In co-op, spread out slightly so a single Collector cannot grab everyone at once. Designate a scout who listens while others focus on navigation.
• Know its patrol zones: While it roams, it favors certain depth bands and open water corridors. Learn these routes and skirt around them.

If you hear the roar while in a vehicle, immediately assess your depth. The Collector often patrols a specific depth band, so rising or sinking sharply can take you out of its hunting zone. How to Survive a Collector Leviathan Encounter

Sometimes avoidance fails and the Collector finds you. When that happens, your goal is escape, not combat. Here is what to do when a Collector Leviathan attacks:

If you are in a Seamoth: Deploy the perimeter defense system immediately. The electric pulse stuns the Collector for a brief moment, giving you a window to accelerate away. Do not fly in a straight line -- weave and change depth. Head for terrain or a cave entrance where the massive creature cannot follow. If the Seamoth is grabbed, you may survive but the vehicle will be heavily damaged or destroyed.

If you are in a Prawn Suit: Use the grapple arm to latch onto terrain and pull yourself away rapidly. The Prawn Suit is tougher than the Seamoth and may survive a hit, but do not rely on that. Deploy perimeter defense if available and head for cover.

If you are in a Cyclops-class sub: Go silent. Reduce engine power and lights to lower your detectability. The Cyclops can take more punishment, but a sustained Collector assault will destroy it. Use decoys to distract the creature and slip away.

If you are on foot (no vehicle): This is the worst case. Use your Seaglide burst to sprint perpendicular to the Collector's approach. Aim for the nearest terrain or structure. You are extremely vulnerable on foot, so your only hope is reaching cover before it closes in.

General survival tips for Collector encounters:

In co-op, the player who is not being chased can distract the Collector by approaching from a different angle, drawing its attention while the targeted player escapes. Coordinate your escape routes so you do not all flee in the same direction and stay grouped as targets.
