How to Unlock the Prawn Suit and Upgrade Arms in Subnautica 2

The Prawn Suit: Your Deep-Sea Workhorse

The Prawn Suit (Pressure Re-Active Waterproof Nano Suit) is the most versatile vehicle in Subnautica 2. It reaches 1700 m depth, mines large resource deposits with the drill arm, navigates caverns with the grappling hook, and survives Leviathan attacks better than any other vehicle. Unlocking it requires scanning fragments from deeper wrecks, and its upgrade arms each need their own blueprints. This guide covers everything.

Where to Find Prawn Suit Fragments

The Prawn Suit blueprint is unlocked by scanning fragments in mid-to-deep wrecks. Unlike the Seamoth, Prawn fragments do not spawn in the safe shallows. The best locations are:

1. Underwater Islands Wrecks (100-300 m)

The underwater islands biome has multiple wrecks with Prawn Suit fragments. This is the most accessible source; bring a Seamoth with a depth module.

2. Lost River Wrecks (500-900 m)

Deeper wrecks in the lost river contain Prawn fragments. You need a depth-upgraded Seamoth or Cyclops to reach them. Watch for Ghost Leviathans.

3. Dunes Wrecks (100-300 m)

The dunes have Prawn fragments but are patrolled by Reaper Leviathans. Only go here if you have not found enough fragments elsewhere.

4. Grand Reef Wrecks (200-500 m)

Wrecks in the grand reef sometimes contain Prawn fragments alongside other blueprints.

Build Materials for the Prawn Suit

Once you have scanned enough fragments, build the Prawn Suit at the Mobile Vehicle Bay. The required materials include:

Aerogel is the main bottleneck because it requires both Rubies and Gel Sacks. Farm both from the deep grand reef before attempting the build.

Drill Arm: Mine Large Deposits

The Drill Arm is the most important Prawn Suit upgrade. It lets you mine large resource deposits (Lithium, Kyanite, Nickel, Diamond, Gold, Copper) that cannot be collected by hand. This is the only way to gather bulk resources from the lost river and lava zones.

Depth Module Upgrades

Craft the Depth Module MK1 (400 m to 700 m) and MK2 (to 1700 m) at the vehicle upgrade console.
